Practical
Project Management Trianing

What’s the Problem?
Nothings simple
You’ve done the training — PRINCE2, APM, MSP — but when it comes to delivering real projects, it’s a different story.
You’re faced with unclear scope, changing requirements, design delays, stakeholder politics, risk everywhere — and the textbook doesn't tell you what to do next.
That’s the gap I see every day.
Many project managers struggle to turn formal training into confident, hands-on delivery. They’re not taught how to:
-
Navigate site constraints and design uncertainty
-
Get statutory permissions or manage consultants
-
Plan delivery when nothing is fixed
-
Manage risk in a proactive, practical way
-
Communicate with clarity when the pressure’s on
-
Grow in their role, get promoted, or lead with confidence

So Whats the Solution?
Gaining confidence
That’s where I come in. I help project professionals:
-
Apply project management in the real world
-
Build delivery confidence through clear, simple tools
-
Spot and manage risk early — before it derails delivery
-
Develop practical strategies to manage scope, programme, and budget
-
Progress in their careers with stronger interviews, CVs, and leadership habits
Whether you’re leading your first capital project or stepping into a senior delivery role, I’ll help you go from surviving to delivering with clarity and control.
I offer web-based training sessions in subjects including;
-
Practical Project Management
-
Environment for Project Managers
-
Practical CDM for Project Managers
-
and 121 project assessments or career support.
Coming soon - I will be offering practical support for one of the most difficult — and often overlooked — parts of delivering projects: navigating approvals and statutory consents.
Whether you're seeking governance sign-off, planning permission, or approvals from regulators like the Environment Agency, Natural England, or local planning authorities, I can help you:
-
Understand what each body is looking for (and when)
-
Plan submissions that are robust, realistic, and strategically timed
-
Manage programme risk caused by approvals and information gaps
-
Communicate with regulators and stakeholders in a way that builds trust and momentum
I’ve worked across the full range of consents and regulatory challenges — from flood risk and ecology to heritage and public access — and I’ll help you avoid the common pitfalls that stall progress and damage confidence.

Why Choose Me?
There are plenty of project management trainers — but few who’ve actually delivered the kind of high-value, complex, multi-partner, constraint-heavy projects. Don't be fooled by programme managers, multi-billion pound portfolios and the like, many haven't delivered and been accountable for action on the ground.
I bring 20+ years of hands-on experience leading capital delivery in heritage and environmental infrastructure, mixed with community involvement. I’ve worked through every phase — from concept and funding to detailed design and construction — often under pressure, with multiple stakeholders and no margin for error.
I don’t just teach the theory — I share what actually works when you're on the hook for delivery.
It's Real-World Experience That Shapes My Training
Here are just a few of the nationally significant projects I've delivered;
A bit more detail.
Navigating the process in a practical way
I broadly follow the Association of Project Management process, however, my process aligns with all major processes including Prince 2 and RIBA. Here, I provide more detail on how I convert the process into a practical toolkit to help you up your game to deliver successful projects. An insight to my services.

What I Offer
Having worked in the industry for so long, I understand the gaps in training and experience. I've managed hundreds of people, read 1000s of CVs, interviewed 100s and worked indirectly with lots more. I've tailored my initial offer to allow me to start supporting PMs on what I feel are the most valuable areas. To make an impact now.

Becoming a Proactive Project Manager
1.5 hour Webinar
Delivering UK civil infrastructure without surprise.
Formal training (APM, PRINCE2, NEC) gives you theory. But in the real world, budgets are political and fixed, ecological and statutory consents are unforgiving, and consultants and contractors push their own agendas. If you don’t anticipate, you react — and reactive PMs lose control.
